The authentic journey of honey, from the beehive to you
It all begins with a flower. And with the way we choose to look after it.
Since 1979, Mielizia has been overseeing a special journey: the one that takes honey from the flowers to people’s tables.
We are a co-operative of over 600 beekeepers, with 100,000 hives spread across Italy and more than 5 billion bees reared and cared for every day. Our widespread presence across the country contributes to pollination and biodiversity, and allows us to gain an in-depth understanding of what we produce.
From the apiaries, the work continues in Monterenzio, in the province of Bologna, where every batch of honey is carefully processed with respect for its origin, its characteristics and its quality.
Being a co-operative means working together, sharing skills, responsibilities and values throughout a single supply chain. It means knowing personally who produces our honey and ensuring transparency at every stage of the process.
But above all, it means never forgetting those on the other side: the people who incorporate Mielizia into their daily lives, whether at breakfast, in a recipe they’re preparing, during a moment of relaxation, or as a kind gesture to share. It is with them in mind that we are committed to bringing authentic, delicious and trustworthy honey to your table.
Between tradition and innovation, one value remains unchanged: the belief that quality stems from care. The care we devote to the bees, the local areas, the honey and the people who choose it every day.
The honey supply chain
Mielizia honeys are the tangible result of the CONAPI “honey supply chain” model, which runs from selection of the areas of origin to production in the apiary, followed by packaging and marketing and sale of the end product.
Our manifesto
Biodiversity is a precious heritage that surrounds us and sustains us every day. Learning about it, respecting it and looking after it means protecting something that belongs to us all.
For over 45 years, our work has been intertwined with the lives of bees. We observe them, look after them, and recognise and value their vital role as pollinators, which is essential for the balance of ecosystems and for many agricultural crops.
We are a co-operative, and for us this means thinking collectively: working together, exchanging ideas and sharing. It means building relationships based on mutual respect and a deep understanding of the areas in which we operate.
We believe in beekeeping that cares for people, bees and the environment in which they live. That is why, every day, we are committed to spreading knowledge about this.
We believe that value is not measured solely by what we produce, but also by the way in which we choose to do so – with care, responsibility and respect for the world of which we are a part.
This commitment takes the form of concrete actions:
- we run educational projects dedicated to the world of bees, pollination and biodiversity;
- we promote the culture of honey and bee products through outreach and awareness-raising activities;
- 50 per cent of our beekeeper members work in accordance with the requirements of certified organic beekeeping, and we contribute to the promotion of good beekeeping practices;
- we support an Italian supply chain involving over 600 beekeepers and around 100,000 hives, ensuring the traceability of honey throughout its journey, from flower to table.
We look to the future knowing that caring for bees requires knowledge, collaboration and a commitment that is renewed every day.

Beekeepers
We work alongside the bees and look after them, building a unique symbiotic relationship with these extraordinary insects day by day. We have always observed their world with respect and care, learning from their rhythms and their balance. We were among the first to embrace organic farming in Italy, and today we are one of Europe’s leading producers of organic honey. We are a community of over 600 beekeepers, united by our love for bees and for Italian honey. Over 5 billion bees live in our hives: we observe them, listen to them and cultivate a deep bond with them, built on care, knowledge and mutual harmony.
